Hudson Drake expertly portrayed himself as Boon Daniels’s best friend and most trusted ally for close to thirty years. All the while, Hudson was under the employ of Daniels’s most hated enemy: Mr. Alkyne Brown of House Bat, from the town of Tanimar. Hudson began his soldiering career as most from Dunmir do, hiring themselves out to the highest bidder. He led this path for several years, amassing a reputation for being a dependable sword and the staunchest of allies, as long as the money was right of course.
Hudson’s travels soon led him to the town of Tanimar, where he would meet Boon Daniels, who had officially ended his career as a soldier and was beginning his new career as a politician. Boon hired Hudson as his personal guard, a job that Hudson wasn’t sure of to begin with, but with what Daniels was paying him, couldn’t turn away. Shortly thereafter, Hudson met Mr. Alkyne Brown, who made him another offer: continue on as Daniels’s personal guard, but secretly begin feeding him information on all of his activities. Hudson agreed, as he was of the mind that two paychecks were always better than one, no matter who got screwed over in the process.
So Hudson continued this for close to thirty years, until Daniels decided that he finally needed to rid the world of Brown, moving his entire operation into the Rushwood Forest, where Daniels’s feud with Brown had started a few centuries before. After consulting with Brown, Hudson was to continue operating under the guise of Daniels’s best friend, especially since Drake told him that he would be in charge of security for Boon’s proposed settlement.
After the move into the Rushwood, Drake began planting more of Brown’s operatives into the fold in the new Thorpe of Boon (Edwin Steen and Samandahl Ciress to name a couple) to help with the undermining of Daniels’s plan to rid the world of Brown. Things quickly began escalating in Boon, especially after Steen was identified as an operative of Brown when some of his personal effects were illegally discovered within his residence. Looking for an opportune time to finally make his move on Daniels, Drake was finally presented it when a massive wave of necromantic energy was discharged from the rock quarry close to Boon, resulting in the animation of countless undead throughout the Rushwood. Using the resulting chaos to make his move, Hudson nearly killed the half-orc warrior Kond before he was stopped. Narrowly escaping death (thanks to the timely intervention of Edwin, who had been given undefined supernatural powers, presumably by Brown), Hudson rejoined his real employer in Tanimar, to make final preparations to kill his former friend of near three decades.
