Raamia Rey is the oldest of four children (Enson, 10, Ihroe, 6, and Kesel, 1) born to Gannish and Yala Rey. Raamia grew up in the temple, learning religion under the guidance of her mother, Yala. While Raamia enjoyed religion and loved the church, she did not share the zealotry of her mother, a fact that would cause the two to argue almost constantly. It’s not that Raamia was aloof with her studies, on the contrary, she was very interested in them, especially the historical contexts of it, she just disagreed with some of her mother’s more extreme religious and political views, taking a more relaxed view of things, tending to be more open and flexible to others views on the subjects.
Regardless, Raamia loved her mother very much, spending the bulk of her time with her, whether it be with her studies at the church or helping Yala with her duties at the orphanage that the church operated. Raamia would help her mother and Sephie Cross, Yala’s best friend and aid, tend to the children of the orphanage. Her duties there included washing clothes, blankets, teaching the children how to make blankets, among several other duties.
When Raamia was twelve, she met Lian, a young female elf who was homeless and had no family. Yala had brought her to the orphanage after Lian unsuccessfully tried to pick her pocket. Raamia and Lian quickly became the best of friends, spending as much time with each other as time allowed. This continued until Raamia reached the age of fourteen, by this time her relationship with Lian had become something more than just friends.
A few months after she turned fourteen, Raamia was approached by her mother, who asked her about some rumors that she had been hearing about her and Lian. At first, Raamia lied to her mother, telling her that she and Lian were just friends, but after several minutes of Yala telling Raamia that Adonis does not shine on those who lie to their parents, Raamia told her the truth, that she was indeed more than friends with Lian.
Yala immediately searched out Lian, finding her in the orphanage common room helping some of the other children make quilts to be sold in the marketplace. When Yala asked Lian about her relationship with her daughter, Lian told her the truth, hoping that Yala would understand that they were meant to be together. However, this was not the case, as Yala berated Lian in front of the other children, telling her how Adonis frowned upon sexual deviants and that no one could make her daughter become like her. Yala then told Lian to leave the orphanage, and promised to bring down a righteous fury upon her if she was ever seen with her daughter again. Raamia would enter an ever persisting state of depression after this, leaving a wedge in her relationship with her mother for some time.
Recently, Raamia made the move with her family into the Rushwood Forest once her father had received a new assignment from Tayla Daniels, a friend of the family. Since making the move, Raamia has taken up a role as an acolyte to the First Church of Boon, under the tutelage of Aurim Lightbeard. Raamia still struggles with her sexual orientation, a fact that she keeps hidden from her mother. She wonders if she will ever be able to be herself and make her mother happy at the same time.
